History

Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth Independence Day or Freedom Day, is an American holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. state of Texas, and more generally the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans throughout the former Confederacy of the southern United States. Celebrated on June 19, the word is a portmanteau of "June" and "nineteenth". Juneteenth is recognized as a state holiday or special day of observance in forty-five states. Below is a photo gallery that includes pictures from the previous years celebration and a picture from the Juneteenth Celebration in Austin Tx on June 19, 1900.

From The Founders,

JUICE is an all volunteer organization whose mission is to empower the community by showcasing those who are aiming to accomplish their dreams. Our goal is to change mindsets by operating in love, representing unity, and highlighting success as living proof that if you believe it, you can achieve it. As part of our mission to help grow our community, in 2017 we started an Annual Juneteenth Celebration that will bring awareness to community needs, give a platform to local entrepreneurs and artists, and encourage community unity with local groups and volunteers coming together to ensure success. We aim to make Juneteenth a part of everyone's family tradition.
